Another example of this anonymous set by an unknown issuer. The cards measure 55mm x 86mm. Paul Chauveau has provided the scan. The original list of 6 known cards can be seen here - Anonymous - ZJF-390/ZJ5-47 Footballers (1928).

In May 2026 a 'plain' version of this card was advertised for Auction, and their description notes it as being from the series 'Greats of British Soccer', issued by 'Football Favourites' magazine. I cannot find either in the FCIE database, but thought this might at least be usefully noted. The card issue was dated 1922/23 (not 1928) and this probably ties in with the Sport & General agency image, which was also used on cards of the time by D C Thomson, Bunsen Confectionary and Clarke's Toffee I believe. DeleteYour date might be correct but very knowledgeable collectors have not quiered it so far. As for the title of Greats of British Soccer', I doubt that very much Godfrey Phillips first used the term 'soccer' with their 'Soccer Stars' collection in 1932. I have done a lot of research with Football Favourites magazine and I haven't come across any reference to these cards, though I must say I've never been able to access a complete run of the magazines. I'll hold off making any amendments for the time being.
