J. Baines - Football Cards (99) - A.W. Outhwaite, York

Football Cards
J. Baines
20,000+ cards

J. Baines was not the first to sell football and cricket cards in the North of England in the late 1880's but he was the most prolific and the business survived into the 1920's. I've always been interested in the various issuers and the businesses that took advantage of craze of collecting football and cricket cards. I thought I would delve into my database and shows some of these interesting cards from a bygone age.
This card is printed by Petty & Sons, Leeds.

165 cards

The cards are unnumbered and it's unlikely that an album was issued. The numbers used here are to catagorize the number of cards in each section, though a complete checklist is still a long way off. All the known players are listed alphabetically in each of the sections.
I can't lay claim to compiling this list, I've taken the information from the www.FigurineCartonate.it website, as I want to try and bring this collection to a wider audience. Anyone interested in these cards can find a lot more information on their website, follow this link Carlo Vidali -Roma.

50 cards (2 football)

I don't have much information about this collection but I came across scans of these two cards recently, both seem to be football related. I don't have a checklist, nor do I have scans of the backs of these two cards, so I am unable to include proper descriptions but I believe the cards to be numbers 20 and 28. If I get scans of the reverse I will add them here.
