Football cards and stickers issued around the world, from the 1880's to the present day and even some that haven't been issued yet. I don't have any cards for sale, nor do I provide valuations, this blog is just a means of passing on information I have gathered over many decades of collecting. Alan Jenkins.

Dubreq (Waddingtons / Top Trumps) - British Stars Set 1 (2)
1979
British Stars Set 1
Waddingtons / Dubreq
32 player cards per season
I've had a couple of e-mails from Steve Hyde...
Hi Alan,
I notice that on 31 December, you posted on your excellent blog some data changes for the Top Trumps cards. I collect West Bromwich Albion cards and can confirm the existence of at least 4 Cyrille Regis versions.
The card with the stats 0 / 0 / 25 / 23 – is an error / misprint.
Regis made his West Bromwich Albion debut in August 1977 and scored 10 goals in 34 appearances in his first season, by the end of his second season he had scored a further 15 goals. Giving a total of 25 and having played in 73 games. This would tie in with the error card.
West Bromwich Albion debut August 1977, England ‘B’ debut 17 October 1980, Full England debut 23 February 1982
Card 0 / 0 / 10 / 34 would correspond with Regis’s record at end of 1977/78
Card 0 / 0 / 25 / 23 would correspond with his record at end of 1978/79 (should be 25 / 73)
Card 0 / 0 / 33 / 95 would correspond with his record at end of 1979/80
Card 0 / 1 / 45 / 137 would correspond with his record at end of 1980/81
West Bromwich Albion League stats:
1977/78 .. 10 / 34 (0 / 0 / 10 / 34)
1978/79 .. 25 / 73 (0 / 0 / 25 / 23)
1979/80 .. 33 / 99 (0 / 0 / 33 / 95)
1980/81 .. 47 / 137 (0 / 1 / 45 / 137)
1981/82 .. 64 / 174
1982/83 .. 73 / 200
1983/84 .. 83 / 230
1984/85 .. 84 / 237
Hope this helps in placing the cards into the different sets/reprints
Regards, Steve
I wonder where that earlier card fits into everything. I wonder if it's from a different set, but I know it's not from British Strikers. You go along, quite happily, thinking you've got something nailed. Then, out of the blue, something comes along that doesn't fit and that makes you doubt everything that's gone before. Perhaps someone can explain what's going on with the Cyrille Regis card.
