I know nothing about these cards at all. I'm guessing at an issue date of around 1970 from the text on the John Sewell card. It's surprising that these cards don't seem to be documented anywhere. From around 1969 and for some years after that Esso were quite prolific in issuing football collectables - posters, coins, etc.
