2018 marks 40 years of Top Trumps
Art & Hue presents stylish pop art inspired by the retro packs of the classic card game Top Trumps.
Launched in 1978, Top Trumps challenges card players to select the correct category to outmatch opponents. One of the first packs issued at the birth of the card game was the World Cup ’78 pack to coincide with the tournament taking place 40 years ago.
Art & Hue had the pleasure to delve into the the archives to create 12 stylish pop art prints inspired by football packs of the classic card game, all available in a choice of three sizes and 27 colour options.
There are six prints reworking the cover cards of six football packs, including World Cup editions and British footballers, along with six prints featuring teams who qualified for the 1990 World Cup, as well as this year’s competition.
Exclusively by Art & Hue, all pop art prints are printed on museum-quality archival card of 310gsm, made from 100% cotton, using fine art pigment inks which last hundreds of years.
An official collaboration with Winning Moves, the owners of Top Trumps, this collection of stylish pop art prints features Art & Hue’s signature halftone style (halftone is an age-old technique that uses dots to make up the printed image, similar to newspapers or comic books).
