Jim Donnelly has found another card from this series.
According to the Scottish F.A. website, Thomas Alexander Jackson was born in Thornliebank (Renfrewshire) on 12 November 1878. He was killed in action in 1916. He played 6 times for Scotland, making his debut in March 1904 in a 1-1 draw against Wales. A stylish right back he spent most of his career at St Mirren whom he joined from Thornliebank in 1896 and remained at Paisley until 1909. Thereafter he had brief playing spells with Bathgate and St Johnstone.
It's been five years since I originally added the first two cards to my blog and in that time there has be no new information about the cards or who issued them. Going by the career of Tommy Jackson it's likely that these cards were issued in the first decade of the 20th Century rather than in the 1890's, which was my original estimate. The other two cards can bee seen here - Anonymous - Footballers (Cigarette cards). These cards are very similar to those issued by Rutherford Cigarettes - Rutherford Cigarettes - Footballers (1890s).
UPDATE (24-06-2020 15:18):  Following discussions with a couple of collectors I have decided to amend the heading for this post from Anonymous to Rutherford Cigarettes.

T. Jackson (St. Mirren F.C.)
F. McDiarmid (Dundee F.C.)
Thomson (3rd Lanark)

  1. Surely these are related to the Rutherford cigarette cards.
Same date and style, maybe proof cards, which because of the short life of this company, never got issued.

    1. That could well be the case, they certainly do look like the Rutherford Cigarettes cards. I'll probably add links to these cards in the Index under Rutherford Cigarettes.
