Rutherford Cigarettes - Footballers - Anonymous (1890s)

Rutherford Cigarettes / Anonymous
2 known

I've been sent scans of these two cards but I've been unable to identify them. They are anonymous with plain backs.
F. McDiarmid (Dundee) later joined Tottenham Hotspur, though I don't think he played in the first team. He later moved on to Northampton Town of the Southern League.
Thomson (3rd Lanark) played one game for Scotland against Wales in Wrexham on 15 April, 1889 and one game for the Scottish League against the Irish League in Belfast on 29 April, 1893. He was in the Third Lanark Rifle Volunteers team that won the Scottish Cup in 1889 and in the side that beat Queens Park in the Glasgow Merchants' Charity Cup Final.
I presume these cards originate from Scotland as it seems neither player would have been well known south of the border.
UPDATE (24-06-2020 15:18):  Following discussions with a couple of collectors I have decided to amend the heading for this post from Anonymous to Rutherford Cigarettes.

F. McDiarmid (Dundee)
Thomson (3rd Lanark)
