Fussball-Weltmeister 1958
C.F.Vogelsang-Tabakfabriken-Bremen

Roger Pashby has sent me a couple of scans from this set...

Now – here’s a real challenge for you! I’ve been sent these scans of a sticker. All I know is that it’s German, 1958 World Cup and it’s about the size of a Panini sticker. Any thoughts?

I know of the set, but I don't have a complete checklist. Unfortunately with some of these German sets they didn't have albums like we know them. They were books where the illustrations were added from cigarette cards/stickers like these. Next to the space in the book is a description of the scene, which could run to a couple of lines. Trying to compile a checklist can be difficult, sometimes they don't even mention one of the teams. If anyone can add further information please get in touch.

The first card shows Wales no. 9 John Charles challenging for the ball v Sweden. I don't know what the card number is. The second and third illustrations are the front and back of card no. 78.

Very rare team groups issued in 1928.
UPDATE (27-05-2022 16:22):  A comment below has stated that 1928 can't be the year of issue as David Halliday didn't join Arsenal until November 1929, yet he is included in the team photo. So I have amended the date to 1930. That's probably the reason why I've never been able to track down which issues these cards were included with.
