UPDATE (26-04-2023 08:35):  According to new information provided on the Vintage Non-Sports Cards Forum, it seems that the cards issued by D. Buchner & Co. that are designated as N286 Musical Instruments, are probably a continuation of Morning Glory Maidens collection in the same way that the calendar cards are. The backs of the Musical Instruments cards are the same as the second version of the offer back shown here. You can see the complete checklist for these 23 cards here - D. Buchner & Co. (USA) - (N286) Musical Instruments.
UPDATE (28-04-2023 10:00):  Designs from the Morning Glory Maidens collection can also be found as cards issued by Barry and Reuter. You can find more on these two versions here:

Ogden's Cigarettes - Lady Cricket & Football Team (02) - Postcards

c. 1889
Lady Cricket & Football Team
Ogden's Cigarettes
6 cards

I will be adding more illustrations to the original article about these superb cards, but David Thompson has very kindly sent me scans of all six of the football postcards that were issued around the same time as the cigarette cards. They are so good that I have to give them their own space. The numbers on the front of the cards were added at some point after they were issued.

The original information I posted relating to these and all the similar cards issued around this time, can be found here - Ogden's Cigarettes - Lady Cricket & Football Team, which will be updated as new information becomes available.
UPDATE (05-02-2025 10:14):  A better image of the sixth card added (Must'nt touch it with the hands) along with a scan of the reverse, which is blank and a similar military postcard.

12 cards (1  Football)

I know very little about these cards and I'm including everything that I've got in this one post, rather than separate everything out into smaller ones. But while writing this I am still unsure how best to present the photos and information.
I'm not sure but I think the images used on these cards come from Victorian 'scraps' issued by Raphael Tuck. I showed two sheets of footballers in a previous post earlier this year - Raphael-Tuck-Sons-Die-Cut-Scraps. They were printed in Germany and sold in the U.K. and North America.
A number of cigarette companies then used these images on their cigarette cards. Ogden's Cigarettes issued what is thought to be a set of 12 cards - 6 cricketers and 6 footballers. There seem to be four (or five) rugby players and one (or two) footballers.
In The U.S.A. some of the Old Port Plug cards have blank backs and shopkeepers would stamp their own details on the back. One example shown here is by A.R. Shirk of Denver, Penn.
UPDATE (19/12/2014):  I would like to thank David Thompson for the scans of the six postcards shown here and can bee seen in all their glory here - Ogden's Cigarettes - Lady Cricket & Football Team (02) - Postcards. I would also like to thank Steve F. for the other new illustrations.
UPDATE (19/12/2014):  Just added a new card issued by D. Buchner & Co. in 1888.
UPDATE (20/12/2014):  Thanks to exdrummer on the CigaretteCardCollecting forum, who has informed me that there are three different 'backs' for this set. I'm still trying to track down an image of the checklist back.
UPDATE (22/12/2014):  Chris Corner has very kindly sent in a scan of the Morning Glory Maidens' Checklist back, which he obtained from the Cartophilic Society of Great Britian reference book RB151 - North American Tobacco Issues. I'd also like to thank Steve F. (CigaretteCardCollecting forum) for the scan of the Cricket card from the same collection.
UPDATE (13-03-2023 00:12):  Two more images added - both sides of a Die-Cut Scrap - Lady Cricket & Football Team.
UPDATE (25-06-2023 14:24):  Three more images added - front and (blank) back of the Cameron & Sizer card, Mustn't touch it with the hands, plus Line up, girls, mark your men.
UPDATE (24-11-2023 17:20):  Two Ogden's Cigarettes Lady Cricket and Football Team cards added - Football (A Forward) and Cricket (The Grace of the Eleven).
UPDATE (09-02-2024 17:56):  Scans of the Ogden's Cigarettes card 'Our Wicketkeeper' added.
UPDATE (20-04-2024 15:59):  Scans of the Ogden's Cigarettes card 'A Place' added.
UPDATE (05-02-2025 10:18):  A better image of the sixth postcard added (Must'nt touch it with the hands), replacing the previous version.
UPDATE (02-04-2025 12:13):  Two more cards added in the 'C. Cox and Co. Calcutta' series. These can also be seen here - Ogden's Cigarettes - Lady Cricket & Football Team (05) - C. Cox & Co., Calcutta.
UPDATE (03-04-2025 15:07):  Another card added and this one comes from a company I was not aware of - William Bros Tobacco Co., Philadelphia. The card was included in packets of their Young Yankee Cigarettes brand. The front of the card doesn't include any annotations. Another card without annotations has been included in this checklist for some time, sitting between the two different versions of the Gloria Cigarettes cards. The back design is not known and it is possible it could be a William Bros. issue. I've moved the illustration so that it sits with this new card. I haven't been able to find out anything about William Bros. Both cards feature cricket and Philadelphia was the hotbed of cricket in the United States during the latter part of the 19th century.
UPDATE (30-11-2025 11:24):  Another card added to section two, showing a cricketer with bat in the air and a wicket-keeper.
UPDATE (05-07-2026 12:08):  A new issuer added - W.S. Duke & Co., Johannesburg / The Pioneer Tobacco Co.  -  the card is shown as illustrations 76 and 77.
