Brazil
1 figurine
This 8" figurine of Pelé was included as a gift in Christmas Baskets that were known as Cestas de Natal Amaral, created by Amaral, located in the Mooca region of São Paulo. The company was founded in 1945, and pioneered the food packaging and consumer sales business in the region.
This figurine is sometimes attributed as being issued in 1958 or 1959, but this is incorrect as they are often found removed from the plynth, making it easier to attribute them to the wrong year. The original figurine given away in the 1950's and early 1960's was known as 'Gigante Amaral' and looked like a giant genie. This was then replaced by 'Emília', a famous Brazilian rag doll character and finally Pelé.
