Another one added to the list. Graham Bruton has sent in an e-mail...
Re. the Norwich City fanzine, I can add Ryan Giggs to the list. When I used to ardently collect cards, I always made a note of dates etc, but what I have written down for this set is a bit strange! My note says that this set has a connection with Top Trumps, and that it was a card game numbering 33.
Hughes and Robson were in the magazine for Jan-Feb 1994, and Giggs for May-June-July 1994. All this sounds odd now, so I wonder how much of it is accurate?

Clevedon Confectionery

Bob Thomas has sent in an interesting photograph relating to this collection...
I thought I'd send you an image of a card I have. It's the original artwork for the Brian Walsh card, and measures 76 x 135 mm. It looks like it was painted on a piece of reused card. I bought it on eBay. I have the following information, if it's of use.
These drawings were painted by the late Stan Jones of Crosby, Liverpool. These were painted for Clevedon Confectionery Ltd of Blackpool, from which Clevedon printed the set of 50 ‘Famous Footballers’. Stan and Vera Jones owned a Sweet and Tobacconist shop and stocked Clevedon Sweets. Stan offered to draw and paint a set of footballers for Clevedon and in 1961 the set was released as a free insert (to become collectors cards) in each packet of sweets.
I was told that this artwork is the only surviving example left of the original artwork.

I collect Liverpool players pre and post their time with the club as well as when with obviously. I recently acquired this card and cannot see reference to an unnumbered series in your pieces on Crescent. Thought I would ask if you know any more about it?
Kind Regards, Jim
It is one of a collection of 100 very rare unnumbered cards, issued around 1925.

Please forgive an indulgence of mine. This collection is a special one to me. I'm still trying to find out the subject of card no. 18, and I am looking for card no. 9 Harold Beadles (Cardiff City) for my own collection.

25 cards (1 football)

Something a little different - a football card from a non-sports series of cards. I've always wondered if the football match between the British and German soldiers during that first Christmas in the First World War ever appeared on a cigarette card. I think at least one ex-footballer Victoria Cross Hero also appeared on a card at some point.
UPDATE (11-11-2015):  The original illustration has been replaced and a scan of the back of the card added.  Thanks to mark e on the Cigarette Card Collecting forum for providing the scans.
