Football cards and stickers issued around the world, from the 1880's to the present day and even some that haven't been issued yet. I don't have any cards for sale, nor do I provide valuations, this blog is just a means of passing on information I have gathered over many decades of collecting. Alan Jenkins.

Europe Champions 2013/14 - The Football Collection
The Golden Shop ~ Χρυσή Συλλογή
576 stickers
My friend Manfred has been touch with details of a new collection. If anyone can help Manfred in completing his collection, please get in touch and I will put you in touch with each other.
I have got some information of a new set with the title EUROPE CHAMPIONS 2013/14, subtitled THE FOOTBALL COLLECTION.
I have the album and was hoping that with the album I could compile a checklist. Unfortunately there is not much information IN the album and because I could only obtain some packets I could get only a little bit of information. But maybe you can mobilize some help on your blog.
It's a sticker set of 576 stickers about teams in the Champions League, a couple of teams that didn't make it to the Champions League and some Greek teams. It's issued in Greece. I don't know the issuer. The packets costs €0,30 (I wish they cost me that much....) and the packets look a bit odd, like a little envelope. I have enclosed pictures of front and back of the packets, the front of the album and a sample of the inside of the album.
The stickers measure 55 x 70 mm, the backside is blank and except for the posters (later more about that) the sticker number is printed in the upper right corner in red on a football, the number is however difficult to read. On the left of the sticker a player is shown (width 25 mm) in front from his middle. Below in white in GREEK! the name of the player. On the right of the sticker (width 55 mm) the player is shown in action and below that action photo is his position mentioned (attacker, midfielder...) in Greek and his birth date. (Sticker 343 has a birth year of 1941 for Jermaine Jones, that has to be 1981...). Finally a small emblem of the team is overlapping the two pictures.
Stickers 529 and higher are part of 4 posters, their number is clearly visible, in the upper left corner. Athough it is not 100% clear to me, my guess is that you have to complete those posters and send it in for winning a prize. What is on the poster isn't anything special.
Alan, if you know people in Greece who can get me stickers or sticker packets, please give my email address to them. I'm also happy to swap for stickers of other sets. The stickers are inexpensive so it must be easier to complete than a Panini card set!
Finally my checklist so far, better something, than nothing.

Ogden's Cigarettes
340+ cards
The other day I found the above card on eBay. Despite my interest in Welsh football, the card was unfamiliar to me. I decided to check Dave Thompson book, Half-Time, Football and the Cigarette Card 1890-1940. For collectors of original cigarette cards issued prior to 1940 it is an invaluable volume. Mine is well-thumbed, so much so that I must remind myself to get another copy from somewhere. I digress, on checking the book I found that the card wasn't listed. Dave Thompson omits rugby players from the lists of Ogden's cards and I wonder if he though T.D. Parry was a rugby player. But he was a Welsh international. Here's the biography from Who's Who of Welsh International Soccer Players by Gareth M. Davies and Ian Garland:
PARRY, THOMAS DAVID
Born Oswestry, 1880; dies Warrington, Cheshire, 17 August 1946.
Half back/Inside forward
7 caps (Oswestry United) v Scotlamd, Ireland, England 1900; v Scotland , England, Ireland 1901; v England 1902, 3 goals
Career: Oswestry United 1896-1905
Tom Parry was a brother of Maurice of Liverpool fame and they appeared together in four international matches. In his seven appearances for Wales, Tom faced England on three occasions - a sign of the FAW selectors' confidence in his abilities. While Maurice pursued a career in football, Tom turned down all offer to become a professional. His importance to the Oswestry cause was seen in the team's decline after he gave up playing.
Parry followed his father's profession as a leather tanner and studied at Lamb's Leather College in London. He was in business in Warrington from 1914 to his death.
Honours: Welsh Cup winner 1901

An unusual collection. The were sold as little booklets,
similar to the issues of A.J. Donaldson and others. Staple holes can be seen on
the left of most of the cards. I don’t know who the issuer was but these cards
are very rare, I don't remember seeing them on the old White Card Lane website.

184 subjects (92 cards)
I stand to be corrected, but I believe
this collection is the largest of any set of cards issued as programme inserts
92 separate cards. Each issue had four cards that were double-sided, with
illustrations of current and former players, team groups, match action and a
variety of personalities connected with Ipswich Town F.C. I’ve got lots of
information about this collection but only the details from the programme for the
last home game of the season against Sheffield United is complete (the
illustrations above come from this issue). Any help in completing this
checklist would be much appreciated.
