Westminster Collections / Royal Mail - Football Heroes Collector Cards

2013
Football Heroes Collector Cards
Westminster Collections / Royal Mail
11

A set of 11 cards have been issued by Westminster Collections in a Limited Edition of 950 sets. Each cards includes 6 stamps of the featured player. The stamps were issued in the United Kingdom on 9 May this year.
The Post Office has also issued a set of 11 postcards, each one showing one stamp of a Football Hero.
John Charles is my Football Hero, so I've used his card to illustrate this collection.

These badges aren't really cartophilic, but I think they are collectable. Most that you find are 'star' shaped, but they came in a wide variety shapes. They were cheap and easy to make. The same player can be found in many different poses. There were probably thousands of different badges issued throughout the late 1950s and most of the 1960s.

I remember them being on sale outside Ninian Park, but I rarely bought them. I travelled 20 miles to Cardiff and what with admission fees (when you could pay at the turnstile) and programmes, I never had much money for such 'luxuries'.

The collector in me would like to gather photographs or scans of as many of these badges as possible, to record them for posterity in a database. Anyone want to help?

Sport magazine
20?

Another collection of newspaper cut-outs, though these come from a magazine called Cavalcade. The edging, which can only just been seen at the top of the scan is similar to that visible on the Cavalcade - League Club Captains item shown previously.
UPDATE (21-02-2017 09:52):  I originally had this collection listed as having come from Cavalcade magazine. Richard Small has informed me that it was actually published in Sport magazine. I have amended the post title and the entry in the Blog Index. He has also provided the dates when this series was published - 17th August, 1951 to 27th December, 1951.

B.A.B. - Oval stickers

1970s
Oval Football stickers
B.A.B.
Unknown number

Another type of sticker from my B.A.B. database, though these are unlikely to be issued by B.A.B. They were more likely to have been issued by Northern Trancessories.

Blackpool were in the First Division in 1970-71 and Carlisle United were there in 1973-74, while Portsmouth spent most of the 1960s and 1970s in the Second Division.

Carlisle United
