Steve Hale has been in touch again regarding Panini's Mexico 70 collection:
I’ve sent some scans again. As far as I’m aware, these are also unrecorded Panini Mexico 70 variations, with the name banner shown on a greenish background rather than the more commonly seen sky blue/light blue version.
The green colour is as issued, not the result of fading or sun damage over time. It is definitely a different shade, and I hope the scans make this clear.
I’ve only seen these six variations in the country team names, and I haven’t come across any player versions in this colour. Perhaps you, or other collectors, have seen some. I’ve always found it remarkable that the flags and these variations from the most sought-after Panini World Cup collection have never been documented.
