Bloomsbury Publishing
Panini Legends: A Celebration of the World's Greatest Football Stickers by Greg Lansdowne is published on 24 October, 2024.
PANINI LEGENDS showcases in sticker form 85 of the most-celebrated players in men's and women's football. Icons like Pelé, Diego Maradona, Franz Beckenbauer and Bobby Moore are present, of course, but they share the limelight with modern stars such as Lionel Messi, Marta, Kylian Mbappé, Cristiano Ronaldo and Alexia Putellas. Written by respected sticker authority Greg Lansdowne, the book features stickers from a host of domestic leagues and all the major international tournaments, expertly selected from over 60 years' worth of albums.
• Which players made the PANINI album but didn't play?
• Who never missed a season as a sticker?
• Whose rookie - a player's first sticker - is most sought after?
• More than 900 iconic PANINI stickers from the domestic and international football competitions
• Extended career profiles of the greatest players to grace PANINI albums
• PANINI stickers showing kits of some of world's most famous football teams
Oh Boy...here we go again. Looks a great addition.
ReplyDeleteWould be useful, if its shows the complete stickers of say 'Pele' from all the Panini collections he has appeared in. Like a complete 'Pele' checklist. Collectors using it to acquire all Pele, Panini stickers, etc. Whatever, looks a great looking book, hardback also.
ReplyDeleteWhere's Johan Cruyff in this collection ? Perhaps the most versatile player of all times. Certainly he belongs in the same range as Pele, Maradona and Messi. And Alexia Putellas included and Johan Cruyff not. This is certainly a joke.
ReplyDeleteThere are 85 stars in the book, I'd be very surprised if Johan Cruyff wasn't included. The illustrations are just a few examples of what the pages look like.
DeleteA few comments above for me to respond to (as the author). As Alan points out, that's not the whole book above (it would be a very short book if it was). Johan Cruyff has four pages in the book, which is no joke. 😀 As I mention in the book, I expect to be bombarded with unhappy people complaining their favourite didn't make it in. With only 85 players it's impossible to please everyone but we tried to make it as wide-ranging as possible. There are indeed checklists added for every player - including each domestic league/World Cup/Euro/Copa America album they featured in plus as many other appearances as space allowed.
