The book is a history of the Pacific Coast League, a Canadian competition and covers the period from 1939 to 1973. The league was based in Vancouver and Vancouver Island and was regarded as the best Canadian football league for a period. Canada's first ever World Cup qualifier against the United States took place in 1957 and all the players came from the Pacific Coast League. The book includes biographies of 36 top players, designed like Barratt's Famous Footballers cards from the 1940's. Some of the players have been attached to British clubs and those have been indicated in the list of players.
