In 2016 Adidas brought out a new line of trainers named after a small North East mining town and sold out of many sizes within minutes and pairs started appearing on eBay for hundreds of pounds. The German sportwear giant launched a limited edition pair of Adidas Ashington trainers in honour of footballing hero Sir Bobby Charlton. He was born in the small north east mining town of Ashington, Northumberland, in 1937. The box of trainers also includes a Bobby Charlton poster and a silver foil packet containing four cards.
