This card is similar to the In Memorium postcards issued in the 1910's and 1920's. This one was printed following a First Round (today's Third Round) F.A. Cup replay between Darlington and Cardiff City. The game ended in a 0-0 draw, as did the original tie at Ninian Park. Cardiff City won the 2nd replay at Anfield by 2 goals to nil and eventually reached the F.A. Cup Final, losing 1-0 to Sheffield United. Darlington's attendance of 19,184 was a record for a side that was at the top of the old Third Division North at the time.
