I have my doubts as to this being for 1989-90, firstly the middle part of the leaflet clearly shows 88-89 season, secondly the images of the 4 cards shown in the leaflet are from the blue text cards of the 1988-89 season, thirdly in the Paul Hart packet booklet the packets featured are described under paragraph J of Ref. BAS028 on page 10 or page 6 of your version.. I am slowly working through identifying and matching up as many of the Barratt/Bassett packets as I can to their respective sets. It is difficult as neither the cards or the packets always reflected corresponding titles. When Paul compiled his booklet he separated into different groups football packets that stated Candy Sticks to those that stated Sweet Cigarettes. It is also difficult to determine whether the Emlyn Hughes Wall charts season review means the season coming up or the season just past. Also the Barratt/Bassett leaflets cannot be relied on because on some the same images of cards is used for different years.

    1. Hi John,

I must admit I am not sure, I decided to go with 1989-90 as the wallchart is said to review the 1988-89 season - it mentions Arsenal stealing the First Division title (just checked and that took place on 26 May, 1989). It would be great to get a full-size image of the wallchart to see what it actually includes.
When these were released I sued to buy the full boxes of packets as my wife had access to wholesalers. I bought the boxes for years but my only interest was the cards, I didn't even bother with the packets because they didn't show any actual players. If only I had realized then that I would be running this blog I would have kept one of everything.
Trying to date the packets is a nightmare. Some people selling them seem to date them by the used-by date but if my memory is right some of those use-by dates were longer than a year.
