Football cards and stickers issued around the world, from the 1880's to the present day and even some that haven't been issued yet. I don't have any cards for sale, nor do I provide valuations, this blog is just a means of passing on information I have gathered over many decades of collecting. Alan Jenkins.

Hi Alan
ReplyDeleteDid you ever lost the plain back cards from this set?
I have the Brentford one here;
https://brentfordfcmemorabilia.wordpress.com/cigarette-trade-cards-1906/
I purchased this years ago off of Paul Clarkson at Matchday cards. I remember he had, near enough, every one as a plain back card. Were they part of a proof set?? We may never know…
Shame i never picked them all up back then!! But, we could say that about many many more vintage cards going back 30/35 years!
Regards
Paul
Hi Paul,
DeleteI've got the plain backed cards included in my database, but I've never actually bothered to identify them one by one. I forgot to add this version when I posted the original list back in the early days of my blog. I was more interested in trying to track down the players that influenced the artwork.
I've now added a note and a link to your website, showing your Brentford cards.
There were lots of cards that, with hindsight it would have been worthwhile buying, even ones like the Filshill cards. I think if I was much younger and looking for something to collect now I would steer away from cigarette cards.
Take care,
Alan
