Some of the many thousands of postcards and similar issued by Albert Wilkes. He played football for Walsall and West Bromwich Albion before moving to Aston Villa in August 1898, where he stayed until 1907. He began his photographic career whilst still playing at Aston Villa and continued until he passed away in 1936. This later card is stamped A. Wilkes & Son. His son, Albert Wilkes Junior took over the business until selling it to Colosport in 1970.
