Famous Cricketers - Herriot Series
William Collins & Son
30 postcards
Tim Thornham has provided this scan from a newspaper called Cricket dated Thursday, 6 August, 1903 with a list of postcards of Famous Cricketers in the "Herriot" series. At least a couple of them also had long and successful careers as footballers. James Iremonger played 334 first-class matches for Nottinghamshire between 1899 and 1914, but also played over 300 games for Nottingham Forest between 1895 and 1910 and also earned 2 caps for England. The famous sporting all-rounder C.B.Fry also features in the collection. He also played for England and won an F.A. Cup runners-up medal with Southampton. I haven't been able to find images of either of the footballing cricketers but I have included examples of two of the other cards, just to show what they look like.
