Subaltern "Stunts" in Silhouettes by H.L. Oakley
Mary Evans Picture Library
1 postcard
I recently came across this postcard that includes a small football scene. The silhouettes were created by Harry Lawrence Oakley, who made tens of thousands of silhouettes between the 1920's and the 1950's. Oakley produced portraits, book and newspaper illustrations, and stationery. During his time as a soldier in the First World War he designed posters for the army.
