Southampton F.C. - Southampton F.C. Player Postcards (1899-1900)

Southampton F.C. Player Postcards
Southampton F.C.
13 postcards

Southampton, then in the Southern League, reached the F.A. Cup Final in 1899-1900 season, losing by 4 goals to nil against Bury at Crystal Palace. I've dated these photos as they were found in a Southampton scrapbook covering the 1890's but it was a very successful period for the club, reaching two F.A. Cup Finals and winning the Southern League title on six occasions between 1896-97 and 1903-04, so it's possible the photos could come from any time during that period.
The player in the England kit is goalkeeper Jack Robinson, who played for Southampton from 1898-99 to 1902-03 and the man next to him, in the centre of the collage, is the club trainer Bill Dawson. Identifying the other players has proved too difficult. Thanks to Martin Bennett for his help.
UPDATE (15-09-2024 21:44):  Four names added - Walter Keay, Arthur Chadwick. Robert Petrie and John Tait Robertson, thanks to Bristol Rovers Historian Eric Whitlock.
UPDATE (16-09-2024 16:22):  Three more names added - Abraham Hartley, John Joyce and Peter Durber, thanks again to Eric Whitlock.
UPDATE (17-09-2024 23:51):  Another name added - Tom Nichol, thanks again to Eric Whitlock.
UPDATE (23-09-2024 23:51):  The last player has been identified, thanks to Gary Chalk, Southampton FC Historian, who owned the scrapbook these were taken from. Unfortunately, they are not postcards, the photos were removed from matchday programmes.

    1. Hi Gary,

Thank you very much for your help, I'm sorry it's taken me so long to authorize your comment. I'm in poor health and things get away from me sometimes. It's good to finally get all the players names, even though they are not postcards.

Thanks again for your help, kind regards, Alan
