Football cards and stickers issued around the world, from the 1880's to the present day and even some that haven't been issued yet. I don't have any cards for sale, nor do I provide valuations, this blog is just a means of passing on information I have gathered over many decades of collecting. Alan Jenkins.

Jas. Gage - Gage's ½d. Pkt. of Football Cards (1889)

Gage's ½d. Pkt. of Football Cards
Jas. Gage, Liverpool
? cards
This advert appears on the front page of a programme for the game between Everton and Preston North End on Saturday, 16 November, 1889. I don't recognise the name of Gage, I wondered if he might be selling cards by John Baines, W.N. Shape, J. Briggs, Alf Cooke or one of the other Victorian card producers but I can't seem to find any reference to a Jas. Gage.
Don't forget, this was only the Football League's second season, with just 12 teams taking part - Accrington, Aston Villa, Blackburn Rovers, Bolton Wanderers, Burnley, Derby County, Everton, Notts County, Preston North End, Stoke, West Bromwich Albion and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The images are the property of the Everton Collection Charitable Trust. I have tried to contact them by e-mail as requested on their website, but the e-mail was returned as 'address not found.'
Please get in touch if you can provide more information about the cards or can provide a valid e-mail address for the Everton Collection Charitable Trust.
