This set of postcards was issued to mark the visit of Pope John Paul II to Britian. I bought them hoping to find postcards showing an event at Cardiff City's Ninian Park stadium but the five postcards listed here purporting to be from that event actually show a different gathering that took place at Pontcanna Fields in Cardiff. One of the other events was at Wembley Stadium but I didn't include information on postcards showing that stadium in my database and as far as I know Wembley Stadium and Ninian Park were the only football venues he visited during his time in the United Kingdom. His visit to Scotland took him to Edinburgh's Murrayfield Stadium. I've still got these five postcards in my collection! I've added another picture just to show that he did actually appear at Ninian Park. They should have added this one to the postcard collection!
