512 stickers
Mark Talbot purchased these stickers on eBay recently and has provided the photos shown here. I wasn't aware of a Brooke Bond variation to the Football 82 First Division badge stickers and I haven't been able to find any reference to them. Mark tells me he knows about an Ipswich Town sticker too, so that's five out of the 22 teams known to exist with this variation and I wouldn't be surprised if all 22 were originally available. There are many dedicated Brooke Bond collectors around the world and I've contacted a couple who are unaware of these stickers.
There are also foil badges for all the other Football League teams but they are two badges per sticker but might not have the Brooke Bond variation, though the ten teams in the Scottish Premier League have similar foil badge stickers to the First Division clubs, so these might have Brooke Bond variations.
I would be pleased to hear from anyone who can provide further information on these unusually variations.

ReplyDeleteThe LCCC issued a revised Brooke Bond Reference Book in 2021 which on page 30 lists the same teams as you have and on page 112 shows the Man Utd sticker.

Hi John,
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen that reference book, thanks for letting me know about the Manchester United sticker. I'll add a note that it has been confirmed.
Cheers,
Alan
