These prototypes are printed using Silver and 24k Gold. They come with a protective film over the front which can be seen in the fifth photo where it has bubbled and some of it has come away from the card. I only know one seller on eBay who has these for sale and I've never seen them on offer anywhere else.

I don't know why this card was issued, the back dates it as 1993 - 2 years after the initial Soccer Shots release. I'd love to know why this card was released, if anyone knows please get in touch.

A promo card was issued at the same time as the Soccer Shots set. There are two versions, one with the text in English and the other with the text in Spanish. Unfortunately I don't have a scan of the Spanish version.

This card of Pele was a rare limited edition insert - only 1 was found in each case. Strangely, a 'D' is printed where the players position appears, why a 'D' I don't know.

It's turning into a Soccer Shots day today! Following the releases of the MISL Soccer Shots cards the company were considering issuing two Soccer Shots World Cup sets - Series 1 in 1992 and Series 2 in 1993, taking advantage of the hype surrounding the build-up to the 1994 World Cup Finals in the United States. Unfortunately the company didn't go ahead with their plans. All we are left with is this prototype card of the Argentine national team. It's a really nice card and it's a shame that it's the only one they produced.
Everyone recognizes Diego Maradona on the right, Oscar Ruggeri is standing next to him. The goalkeeper is  Nery Pumpido and Julio Olarticoechea is at the left of those standing. Roberto Nestor Sensini is on the left of the front row and Claudio Caniggia is at the other end. The other players in the photo are Jose Luis Brown, Oscar Garre, José Cuciuffo, Hernan Diaz, Ricardo Giusti, Nestor Clausen and Pedro Troglio. The photo was taken in April 1988 prior to kick-off against Russia at the Olympic Stadium in Munich at a Four Team Tournament also involving West Germany and Sweden.

I enjoyed collecting this set in the early 1990s, even though cards were hard to come by in the UK, in the days before the internet and eBay. I was a little bit disappointed that the  back of the Billy Ronson didn't include any reference to his time at Cardiff City. 
The set featured clubs in the MISL - Major Indoor Soccer League, which was the major soccer competition in the United States following the demise of the NASL and prior to the formation of MSL.

There were two versions of the Pele promo card, one in English the other in Spanish and the latter cards is by far the rarest.
