One of these collectable stickers was given to each child buying a 6d Savings Stamp. There were a number of different series, all war-related. This collection of V.C. Heroes includes former Celtic player William Angus, who has featured on this blog a number of times over the years. The stickers are known as 'poster stamps' and are claimed by philatelists as their own, but I am of the opinion that they are no different to the sheets of stickers given away in story-papers and comics during the 1920's as well as similar items given away by companies like Nestlé and Tobler Chocolate in the 1930's.
