I have been sent a few scans of some plain-backed cards and was asked if I knew where they come from. Some have a red border and some have a grey border.
These 'cards' are taken from The Book News Chronicle The Best of All Sports 11th Edition that was published in time for Christmas 1960. There are 14 pages of Top Scorers (from the 1959-60 season) and pages have been removed from the book and pasted onto card and then cut out. Some players are wrongly identified on the cards because of the way they've been positioned - e.g. the two Aston Villa players, Gerry Hitchens and Peter McParland, are found with the wrong name under their photos. Here's a complete of all the players featured in the Top Scorers section.
