Panini America - 2018-19 Immaculate Collection Soccer (03) - Fake Patch - Robin van Persie

2018-19
2018-19 Panini Immaculate Collection Soccer
Panini America
100 base cards

Raj3sh made me aware of this fraudulent practice that was discovered by other collectors on Facebook. Both images are of the same card. The one at the top is the original with an ordinary patch (#15/19), the second picture is the same card but the ordinary patch has been removed and replaced with another swatch that probably hasn't got any connection to Robin van Persie.
Netherlands played France on 16 November 2018 but Robin van Persie was not involved, though what little we see of it, the shirt does look similar. They played Latvia on the same date in 2014 but the date on the shirts was printed in white. They also played Japan in 2013 but that was treated as an away fixture that took place in Belgium. Before that you have to go back to 1994 and a game against the Czech Republic.
Similar cards will be shown over the coming days.

  1. Man, This blows as the card looks legit and there is no way of knowing it is original or not. Hope the card companies come up with something to curb it. like a picture database of the card or something.

  2. Hi Tom,

Yes, some sort of picture database would be the only way to prevent this from happening. I can't believe anyone would do such a thing, I'm sure the different swatch wouldn't make that much difference to the sale price.
