John Maisano went on to carve out quite a successful career, playing for Atalanta (Serie A), K.V.C. Westerlo (Belgian Pro League), Helmond Sport (Dutch Eerste Divisie), Marconi Stallions (Australia) and Greenock Morton, Ayr United and Stranraer in Scotland, but retired at the age of 27. He also represented Australia at the 1995 FIFA U-17 World Championship and the 1999 FIFA World Youth Championship. He is currently assistant coach at ES Troyes in France's Ligue 2.
