Another example of this anonymous set by an unknown issuer. The cards measure 55mm x 86mm. The reference to ex-Aston Villa footballer Albert Wilkes is just a photographers credit. Wilkes began his photography business whilst still playing for Aston Villa. He died in 1936 when his son took over. The business was eventually sold to Colorsport in 1970. I've been sent scans of these two cards but I've been unable to identify them. They are anonymous with plain backs.
F. McDiarmid (Dundee) later joined Tottenham Hotspur, though I don't think he played in the first team. He later moved on to Northampton Town of the Southern League.
Thomson (3rd Lanark) played one game for Scotland against Wales in Wrexham on 15 April, 1889 and one game for the Scottish League against the Irish League in Belfast on 29 April, 1893. He was in the Third Lanark Rifle Volunteers team that won the Scottish Cup in 1889 and in the side that beat Queens Park in the Glasgow Merchants' Charity Cup Final.
I presume these cards originate from Scotland as it seems neither player would have been well known south of the border.

I don't know anything about this set. Only 6 cards are known, the Puddefoot card includes an inscription 'Sport & General' and I've always wondered if that was a magazine. You can see the Clem Stephenson card on Roger Pashby's Huddersfield Town Cards & Stickers website and that card only has a photographers credit printed on the photo. The cards are unnumbered, have plain backs and are listed here in alphabetical order.
UPDATE (06-04-2017 14:42):  Bob Thomas just informed me that Sport & General refers to Sport & General Press Agency Ltd., London, which is the source of some of the images used.

UPDATE (23-01-2023 19:00):  A scan of the Andy Wilson card added, thanks to CardHawkUK. All six cards can now be seen on my blog by following the links in the checklist below.

I originally had these cards listed in two separate posts. Unusual cards issued in Scotland, probably in the late 1950's or early 1960's. There's nothing on them to identify who produced them. The cards have a large plain border, with the players names printed in either upper case or title case. Prior to finding the above photos most of them seem to be Glasgow Rangers players. The photo size on the cards varies, the typeface varies...

Another few cards similar to an earlier collection featured here. I've only ever seen three cards, I don't know where they've come from, but they do look as if they may have been cut from a magazine or newspaper. Any ideas?

UPDATE (10-02-2025):  Dave Galloway has conformed that they are card and not paper. Perhaps they come from some sort of card game?
