The Gem Library - The "Gem" Footer Puzzle

The "Gem" Footer Puzzle
The Gem Library
1 sheet

Paul Briers sent in these two scans of a sheet given away with The Gem Library. It's the first time that I have seen this item, it's not even listed in the Cartophilic Society reference books. No Cardiff City player included, so I don't have to add this to my 'wants' list. The white circles are actually holes and the puzzle was to try and fold the sheet so that all the players would be visible at the same time. The solution was printed in the following weeks' issue of the story-paper. You can click on the photos to access much larger versions of the photos.

C.M. Buchan (Arsenal)
W.H. Walker (Aston Villa)
J. Bradford (Birmingham)
S. Puddefoot (Blackburn Rovers)
Joe Smith (Bolton Wanderers)
J. Hill (Burnley)
Howard-Baker (Chelsea)
A.L. Morton (Glasgow Rangers)
C. Stephenson (Huddersfield Town)
F. Roberts (Manchester City)
F. Barson (Manchester United)
J. Lansdale (Millwall)
J.G. Cock (Plymouth Argyle)
W. Gillespie (Sheffield United)
T. Clay (Tottenham Hotspur)
J. Ruffell (West Ham)

  1. Alan, The scan of the "back" of this puzzle - the second image - is bizzarely a vertically transposed mirror image! If you click to zoom in, you will see that the team names are back to front. I can send you another scan if needed or you can't fix the one you have. Phil

    1. Hi Phil,

Thanks for letting me know, I think I've corrected it now.

      Cheers,

      Alan
