Starting with issue no. 657 dated 11 September, 1920, The Gem Library gave away a three part football annual. I've never seen a copy of the booklet so I can't show any pictures of it. The Cartophilic Society of Great Britain always used to include booklets given away with magazines, but these three have never been included in their reference works.

15 cards were issued over a fifteen week period. The first two cards were unnumbered. The first week the card was of a single player. The following week the card included portraits of two players, which could be cut down the middle to make two separate cards. The cards continued in this format throughout it's run.

Paul Briers sent in these two scans of a sheet given away with The Gem Library. It's the first time that I have seen this item, it's not even listed in the Cartophilic Society reference books. No Cardiff City player included, so I don't have to add this to my 'wants' list. The white circles are actually holes and the puzzle was to try and fold the sheet so that all the players would be visible at the same time. The solution was printed in the following weeks' issue of the story-paper. You can click on the photos to access much larger versions of the photos.

This is a 16 page album given away with The Gem Library storypaper. The inserts were cut from sheets. These had to be cut out and stuck into the relevant position in the album. There were a number of sections but I'm only interested in getting details about the final section, The Year's Sport.
