Our Football Leaders
The Boy's Own Paper
24 Footballers
Peter has been in touch regarding this collection...
I have illustrated 18 of the 19 footballers from this series that appeared in Boy's Own Paper. The three in sepia are unconfirmed but I think they should look like this. Just two of these portraits I couldn't find on any other cards (Moon and Storer). The rest were published a couple of times (Ogden, Cohen Weenen, Hudson & Kearns). The series came in two issues in Volume 22 dated 1899-1900 . The first: Our Football Leaders - Amateurs, the second one - Our Football Leaders - Professionals. I've never seen uncut sheets so it would be great to find a copy.
