(11-08-2013): Does anyone have an example of one of these inserts that they can share with us?
UPDATE (09-08-2025 17:00): Andy J. and Andrew R. have provided a list of some of the portrait and were even able to date a few and from that information I've compiled this list of first-team fixtures over the period. They discovered that the first one was issued on Boxing Day in 1919 with the one for the Manchester United game a few weeks later actually being given a number. There are still lots of gaps and I've included friendly games just in case portraits were issued with those programmes too.

Hi, we've been doing a little investigation into these inserts. They were first announced in the programme v Arsenal 13 Dec 1919 as Art Photos. The first one came out on Boxing Day 1919. They were over 2 seasons. I've got copies of 9 of them.

This post is one of the reasons I started this blog - trying to discover information about old cards and similar items that I didn't have complete checklists for. It's exploded into so much more but your comment is the first bit of additional information about this collection. I still haven't come across any photos in all this time. I'll update the list later tomorrow.

DeleteI've got 8 photos but not sure how to load them.
We're not sure whether for example the Harrow you had in the first post is the one we've found.
We can't find any mention of these cards but Colin Hampton wasn't mentioned either and we have a copy of him
