Ogden's Cigarettes - General Interest F Series

1902
General Interest F Series
Ogden's Cigarettes
320 (45 football)

Many of the cards show action from, and players who featured in, the 1902 F.A. Cup Final between Sheffield United and Southampton. The original game on 19 April at Crystal Palace ended in a draw. The replay took place at the same venue the following weekend when Sheffield United came out on top 2-1.
UPDATE (16-01-2023 14-06):  A Turner (Southampton) amended from 379 to 370, thanks to Tor Henrik van der Ohe. It was listed incorrectly due to the poor condition of the card originally used to compile this list. Tor Henrik has also provided a scan of the card. I have also added the names of two cricketers who were also well-known footballers in their day.
UPDATE (12-08-2024 06:40):  Cards can be found with the letter 'R' in 'CIGARETTES' similar to all the other letters in the word and also a very different letter 'R', with a curved tail, more like the cards in the D Series. See Ogden's Cigarettes - General Interest F Series (02) - Ogden's Cigarettes Variation. Cards 1, 154 and 155 have also been confirmed as being available with both versions.

  1. The Raisbeck card is also an error, it shows Scottish international legend Alex Raisbeck of Liverpool but ascribes Derby County as his club. his brother Bill Raisbeck played 6 matches for Derby County in 1901-02.

Thanks for the information, I've just added a note to the checklist.
