A postcard issued to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary to Barnsley in June 1912. Barrnsley had won the F.A. Cup in 1912, beating West Bromwich Albion 1-0 in the replay at Bramall Lane, Sheffield and the trophy was on display at the Clarence Hotel, Barnsley's Headquarters. I'm not sure if the royal party visited the hotel as they travelled to Barnsley, Wakefield and Nostell before lunch on that day. After lunch they visited Dewsbury, Batley, Heckmondwike and Cleckheaton before taking a train to Wentworth.
