How's Your Touch / Matt Dallinson - Scottish Women's Premier League Trading Cards

2022
Scottish Women's Premier League Trading Cards
How's Your Touch / Matt Dallinson
22 cards

Matt Dallinson designed the whole thing singlehandedly. He launched a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign to source orders and raise some money for the charity Back Onside, which supports people who have been affected by mental health and challenging life circumstances. He expected to raise £25 for the charity but ended up collecting £500 as the orders came rolling in. He set about contacting players that he wanted to include in the set, asking if they were OK with being part of it and then finding an image to illustrate for the cards. Packets cost £5.00 for 5 cards.
"I wanted it to be as transparent as possible because at the end of the day, it’s them that’s on the cards, not me. So I wanted to let them know what’s happening. We made personalised graphics for every club and we sent them out to the players and just said, 'Look, there’s no pressure for you to post about it (on social media) but if you want to, then here it is.'" Players shared the cards on their Instagram stories and were “buzzing” to be a part of it, but putting it together made Dallinson realise just how difficult it is to find the most basic information in women’s football.
Vivianne Miedema and Megan Rapinoe made the cut as they’re "cool people, really good footballers and there was a vague link to Scotland." Miedema’s link to Scotland is her relationship with national team player Lisa Evans, while Megan Rapinoe filmed a promotional video for the 2021-22 SWPL season which won the hearts of Scottish football fans.
