Amalgamated Press / Boys Broadcast - Boys Broadcast Diary

1934
Boys Broadcast Diary
Amalgamated Press / Boys Broadcast
1 booklet

Boys Broadcast was a story paper published by the Amalgamated Press from 27 October 1934 to 29 June 1935, when it had run for 36 issues. It was then merged into Boy's Cinema. It was edited by John L. Bott, with the assistance of Walter Holton. This small diary (9cm x 12cm) includes various sections including line-drwan maps, images of aeroplanes and car radiators, etc. as well as sections on how to tie knots and read maps. There is also plenty of room for collecting autographs, planning activities (from November 1934 to December 1935) and noting football and cricket results. It's possible it may well have been included as a free  gift with the very first issue of the story paper.
There is also a two-page spread headed 'Footballers I Have Seen' in the 64 page booklet, where the owner can mark off those players he has seen in action. There are two Cardiff City players in the list despite my team playing in Division Three South at the time. That's enough for me to add this to my personal collection. There is also pages for cricketers and film stars.
