Coffer - Football Club Miniature Books

1971-73
Football Club Miniature Books
Coffer
? books

Ian Black sent me photos of this small Coffer book. I must admit I've never seen one of these before. When closed the book measures about 30x25mm and opening it reveals small portraits of footballers, Celtic players in this instance, in a concertina format - absolutely fascinating! While searching around I also found similar ones for Arsenal and Manchester United (Frank O'Farrell era - July 1971 to December 1972) as well as others relating to Queen Elizabeth II and London Landmarks.
UPDATE (13-03-2020 12:34):  Mark Hughesdon has provided lots more information about these books. They were originally intended as keyrings, see the Chelsea one above, though many have lost the metal part. So far there seem to be between 14 and 17 players illustrated.
UPDATE (13-03-2020 19:44):  Nik Yeomans has provided a list of players for the Chelsea book.
UPDATE (13-03-2020 20:01):  Mark Hughesdon has been able to provide a list of the Everton players.
UPDATE (16-03-2020 13:32):  Graham Bruton has provided some additional information including lists of players for Arsenal, Leeds United and Liverpool as well as an additional team - Rangers.

  1. Chelsea 14 players: Baldwin, Dempsey, McCreadie, Hinton, Boyle, Houseman, Webb, Cooke, Hudson, Hutchinson, Hollins, Bonetti, Osgood, Harris.
1971 Cup Winners Cup victory recorded, so late 1971 earliest.

  6. My husband has 4 of these 2 x London Airport ones (they have broach pins attached to them), 1 x star album (Cassidy, Elvis, Elton John etc) with metal attachment, but no pin, and the 4th one being a Westham United one with a keyring attached. I can provide some photos if interested. Would also be interested to see who to approach / what audience would be interested in buying (we are located in Australia)

    2. Probably. There are a few auction houses that deal with football memorabilia but they take a big cut. Loddon Auctions and Tim Davidson Auctions are two. You'll find them on the web.
