Peter Zezel made his name as a very accomplished ice hockey player. He made his debut in 1982-83 with Toronto Marlboros before moving on to the Philadelphia Flyers and a host of other clubs until his long career came to an end in 2004-05 after a total of 1,004 games. But he was also an accomplished footballer, he was drafted by NASL's Toronto Blizzard and played in 3 exhibition games for them in 1982 though he never appeared in an official NASL game. During the summer of 1991 he played for the North York Rockets in the Canadian Soccer League. He died at the age of 44 from hemolytic anemia. Zezel never appeared on football cards but he is featured on many ice hockey cards with this card, issued by Topps in the United States and O-Pee-Chee in Canada, being recognized as his rookie card.
