Wiles, Brighton - Cup-Tie - Albion v Cardiff (Postcards)

1920-21
Cup-Tie - Albion v Cardiff
Wiles, Brighton
6 postcards

Bob Thomas has provided scans of these six postcards. There are probably at least 55 different postcards as these are numbered up to 55. The pictures were taken at an F.A. Cup 2nd Round match between Brighton & Hove Albion and Cardiff City on 29 January, 1921 where a crowd of 20,260 watched a 0-0 draw. Cardiff City won the replay and reached the semi-finals in their first season in the Football League. All the examples are postally unused and are similar to the one example shown here. Wiles of Brighton seems to have created these crowd scene postcards from at least 1910-11 until 1922-23 covering most, if not all, Albion home games - 55 postcards per game, 20-plus games per season and 9 seasons - that's about 10,000 different postcards!
I wonder, if you had all the cards whether it would be possible to fit them together a little like a jigsaw and get a 360° image of the crowd at the match. It's a pity there aren't two consecutive numbers amongst these postcards.
