J.C. Battock - (BEV-1-2/BAT-200) Football Cards - White backgrounds

1920s
BEV-1-2/BAT-200 Cricket & Football Cards ~ White backgrounds
J.C. Battock
108 cards

These cards are the more familiar Battocks cards, even though these are hard to come by these days. As with the earlier set, they seem to share the 8 different back designs. It's quite possible that all cards are available with all the different back designs, I've only got illustrations of five of the different back designs. One card states that there are 108 cards - 54 cricket and 54 football, whether that refers to these cards or the other ones I don't know, but we know of many more than 53 football cards.
After all my years of collecting, I've never seen the Cardiff City card. If anyone has one in their collection, I'd love see a scan or photocopy.

Different backs:

  1. Battocks often played fast and loose with the club colours in this set. Huddersfield have never played with hoops on the arms and having sold one of their Burnley cards, I can tell you that it has them in claret and blue halves, much like a Blackburn Rovers kit - not a popular move if you ask any Burnley fan!

  2. J.C. Battock produced football jerseys and footballs but did they produce anything else? When did this company start and when is it known that they were no longer in business.
Also, regarding the cards they produced were they all the same style with the player wearing the kit of a specific club and are there more than one different kit per club or were the cards only issued the once?.
