A few years ago the Journal of the Football Postcard Collectors Club (pages 2507-2509) included an article on some postcards that were available from the publishers of Charles Buchan's Football Monthly. The backs are blank and there's no mention of the photographer or publisher. At one point these were advertised as a 'Picture Gallery of the Stars'. I finally got around to doing some research on these postcards and it turns out there more than just postcards available for purchase. This list comes from the July 1953 issue of the magazine. The players weren't list alphabetically in the magazine, so I've sorted them to make it easier to keep track of all the players. Luckily, in most cases, the magazine only uses the player's surname.
The next job is to go back over previous issues to see if there are any that have been removed prior to this list being published and then to go forward through to 1958 to see how many changes there are over time. Some but not all the players were available as portrait and an action picture but the list doesn't specify which players were available in both formats or which were portraits and which were action pictures.
