Topical Times - Scottish League Team Groups

1919-20
Scottish League Team Groups
Topical Times
15 known

Topical Times was published by D.C. Thomson from their base in Dundee. The first issue was published on 18 October, 1919. In Scotland the magazine gave away team photos of Scottish clubs, I've listed the ones I know, but there may be more. Unfortunately, I don't have any illustrations ot include. There were 22 teams in the Scottish League that season and I've no information on whether team groups were issued for the following clubs: Airdrieonians, Kilmarnock, Ayr United, St. Mirren, Heart of Midlothian, Hamilton Academicals and Albion Rovers.

Celtic - Rangers    - issue dated 18 October 1919
Partick Thistle - Clydebank    - issue dated 25 October 1919
Clyde - Dumbarton     - issue dated 1 November 1919
Queens Park - Morton    - issue dated 8 November 1919
Motherwell - Third Lanark    - issue dated 15 November 1919
Aberdeen - Raith Rovers    - issue dated 22 November 1919
Edinburgh Hibs    - issue dated 6 December 1919
Dundee    - issue dated 20 December 1919
Falkirk    - issue dated 27 December 1919

I don't know when these booklets were issued, but I think it may have been some time in 1932. Any more information would be more than welcome. It's another one of those three-in-one supplements, very difficult to find uncut.

Gordon Sydney has add a comment to the original post for this issue:

This card was part of a set issued by Clyde during the 1972/73 season. There is reference to the issue in the club programmes for the season so I could probably narrow it down if you wanted that sort of info. There are eight in total within the set, and images can be found here The Clyde Archive

It's 1950, five years after the end of the Second World War, but there is still a paper shortage. The Champion issued another of their little booklets for collecting photos, but this time the photos were printed on the back page of the story-paper, rather than being included on a separate sheet inserted into the publication. You also needed to buy the album this time, costing all of 1d. The photos are listed below in the order they appeared in The Champion as well as a checklist in numerical order.
